Advanced Technologies against Cyber & Physical Threats for Space Ground Segments
The overall concept of 7SHIELDis to provide to the European Ground Segment facilities a holistic framework enable to confront complex cyber and physical threats by covering all the macro stages of crisis management, namely pre-crisis, crisis and post-crises phases. 7SHIELD integrates a series of state-of-the-art technological achievements from multidisciplinary fields, namely: sensors technologies, IoT, semantic reasoning, high-level analytics, decision support systems, crisis management, and situational awareness. All these technologies focus on the protection of critical infrastructures such as ground segments of space systems.
Artificial Intelligence and advanced Data Analytics for Law Enforcement Agencies AIDA is a EU research project that aims at developing a Big Data Analysis and Analytics framework equipped with a complete set of effective, efficient and automated data mining and analytics solutions to deal with standardised investigative workflows, extensive content acquisition, information extraction and fusion, knowledge management and enrichment through novel applications of Big Data processing, Machine Learning, AI and predictive and visual analytics. The objective of AIDAis to significantly enhance LEAs’ capability to combat cybercrime and terrorist activities through innovations in knowledge mining, information fusion, Artificial Intelligence techniques and analytics services.
Accountability Principles for Artificial Intelligence (AP4AI) in the Internal Security Domain
The AP4AI Project addresses this challenge by creating a global Framework for AI Accountability for Policing, Security and Justice. The AP4AI Framework is grounded in empirically verified Accountability Principles for AI as carefully researched and accessible standard, which supports internal security practitioners in implementing AI and Machine Learning tools in an accountable and transparent manner and in line with EU values and fundamental rights.
fAcilitating Public & Private secuRity operAtors to mitigate terrorIsm Scenarios against soft targEts The EU-funded APPRAISE project will develop an integrated threat intelligence solution designed for protecting the augmented cities environment. It will perform a continuous and effective monitoring of online sources and physical sensors to identify potential threats and improve strategies for protection of soft targets (such as shopping malls and stadiums), while preserving the freedom of citizens. Building on the latest advances in big data analysis, AI and advanced visualisation, the project will offer unprecedented capabilities to predict and identify criminal and terrorist acts and enhance the private-public collaboration of security actors.
Global Response Against Child Exploitation GRACE aims to provide a European-wide platform that equips European law enforcement agencies with advanced analytical and investigative capabilities to respond to the spread of online child sexual exploitation material (CSEM). GRACE aims to achieve significant operational value for LEAs through improving the investigative capabilities and responses to combatting online CSEM.
Investigative, Immersive, and Interactive Collaboration Environment INFINITY aims to transform the traditional idea of criminal investigation and analysis using immersive and collaborative environments. INFINITY's concept is based around four core research and technical innovations that together, will provide a revolutionary approach and convert data into actionable intelligence.
Holistic framework for the MatUrity evaLuaTIon of ReAdiness level for security TEchnologies
The MultiRATEproject aims to support the European R&D community, EC-Chaired initiatives, CERIS, and European Commission Agencies with a Multi-disciplinary and holistic evaluation methodology and calculation which will measure the Readiness Level of the outputs of EU R&D projects.MultiRATE will provide an advanced cross-disciplinary methodology and tool that will provide a common and harmonised assessment for all EU funded activities.
pop AI is a 24-month project funded under the Horizon2020 framework. It is a Coordination and Support Action, bringing together security practitioners, AI scientists, ethics and privacy researchers, civil society organisations as well as social Sciences and humanities experts. popAI aims at fostering a constructive dialogue between the European policymakers, the Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs), and the ordinary citizens. The final goal is to enhance trust in the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-enable mechanisms in the security domain, by increasing awareness, social engagement and gathering knowledge and expertise from multiple sectors. This approach will offer a unified European view across LEAs (Law Enforcement Agencies), while encouraging the creation of an ecosystem that could provide the structural architecture of a sustainable and inclusive European AI hub for Law Enforcement. Moreover, the project will delineate a roadmap for the implementation of AI systems in the short term (focusing on certification and compliance) and in the long term (addressing potential future scenarios and risks related to the use of AI).
Sustainable Autonomy and Resilience for LEAs using AI against High priority Threats
LEA’s data-rich environments provide the opportunity to adopt AI tools and capabilities that improve investigatory practices and limit the criminal misuse of AI. Through STARLIGHT, LEAs will collaboratively develop their autonomy and resilience in the use of AI for tackling major criminal threats. STARLIGHT aims to create a community that brings together LEAs, researchers, industry and practitioners in the security ecosystem under a coordinated and strategic effort to bring AI into operational practices.
